Ever tried to lose double digit pounds in a short space of time? Maybe you need to fit into that wedding dress, you might have booked a last minute flight to the Caribbeans, or your planning on going to a high school reunion.
Whatever the reason, you can lose that weight very quickly. Have you ever heard of a quick-fix 7 day weight loss plan called the Cabbage Soup Diet? A word of caution, it is not the best way to shed a few pounds over the long-run. However, it can definitely provide some very real results.
It is a 7 day diet plan that actually works. (another plan, with similarly fast results, is the 7 Day Belly Blast Diet). However, it requires a strong will and real commitment for you to have a successful outcome. I have completed the plan myself on two different occasions, and lost approximately 9 pounds each time.
It works, I can definitely confirm that. The Cabbage Soup Diet does not make any further recommendations regarding behavior modification for nutrition or fitness nor does it recommend any particular fitness activity. Therefore, the weight is often gained back once you fall back into your old eating habits.
This is the same reason I have done this plan, twice myself, in the past two years. Over a period of 6 months, I gained the 9 pounds I lost the first time I did this diet. The second time, I tried to stay more committed to modifying my eating behavior, and as a result, have only gained back a small portion of the weight I lost. You can eat as much as you want under the 7 day Cabbage Soup Diet so long as it forms part of the short list of food items.
The 7 day food list includes cabbage soup (which is really more like a vegetable soup), fruit, vegetables, rice, meat and lots of water. There are slight variations in the day-to-day plan depending on where you find the plan, but the diet plan is essentially this:
Day 1: Cabbage soup and unlimited fruit (except bananas).
Day 2: Cabbage soup, unlimited vegetables (except beans, peas or corn) and a baked potato with butter.
Day 3: Cabbage soup and unlimited fruits and vegetables from above.
Day 4: Cabbage soup and up to 8 bananas and two glasses of skim milk.
Day 5: Cabbage soup and 20 ounces of beef, chicken or fish and up to 6 tomatoes.
Day 6: Cabbage soup, up to 3 beef steaks and unlimited vegetables.
Day 7: Cabbage soup, up to 2 cups of brown rice and unlimited vegetables.
The cabbage soup consists of cabbage, vegetables and a lean soup base. This soup base can be a powdered soup base, chicken broth, beef broth or a tomato-based.
Regardless, the base should be non-fatty. Having completed the plan twice previously, this diet requires a huge commitment to successfully finish the 7 day plan. Towards the last 3 days of the plan, I grew tired of the cabbage soup and did not have much more of it, but instead, ate everything else on each day's food list.
In contrast to the Cabbage Soup Diet, another diet plan, the Seven Day Belly Blast, promotes a variety of different foods that provides proper nutritional requirements for your body. It is important to drink lots of water throughout this plan. This is not only a diet but also a cleansing plan for your body.
As mentioned, I did successfully complete the plan twice. I ended up using this 7 day diet plan each spring, and then used it as a springboard to transition into a more healthy nutrition and fitness plan through the summer and fall. So long as you consider some form of modification to your eating behavior after completing this plan, supplemented with a regular exercise routine, then you should see some longer-term results.
As to my own experience, consider this 7 day plan as a springboard to a healthier lifestyle. If you want to lose weight quickly, while supplying yourself with the proper nutritional requirements, then the 7 Day Belly Blast may be what you are seeking. It offers a more nutritional food plan which doesn't require you to sacrifice many of your favorite foods or food groups.
